About the Authors
Dr. William C. Greene Jr.
Dr. William C. Greene, Jr. was born and raised in Queens, NY, and is a proud product of the New York City public school system. With over 33 years of experience in education, his career encompasses roles as a teacher, department chair, assistant principal, and principal. Dr. Greene has served as an administrator at the elementary, middle, and high school levels. At the district level, he ascended to positions such as Curriculum Coordinator, Director of Professional Learning, and Executive Director for Teaching and Learning. His passion for working with children and families is unwavering. In 2012, Dr. Greene presented at the Georgia Statewide Conference, addressing Family Engagement - Building Connections with his talk on "The Creation of a True Village.”
Dr. Greene's expertise has been recognized at the national level. In 2014, he was invited to participate as a panelist for The White House Initiative for Educational Excellence for African Americans. This summit, initiated by President Barack Obama, aimed to accelerate efforts to support African American students and improve opportunities for all students, with goals to increase college completion and employment rates, thereby strengthening the nation's economy.
In 2015, he presented at the Georgia Association of Secondary School Principals on "Knowing Students by Name and by Need, " demonstrating his commitment to personalized education. Beyond his roles in education and as an author, Dr. Greene is a seasoned presenter at local, state, and national conferences. Currently, he is an adjunct professor and serves as the Director for Teacher Preparation at Morehouse College in Atlanta, Georgia.
Dr. Greene earned his bachelor's degree in psychology from Morehouse College, a master’s degree in the Teaching of Social Studies from Columbia University-Teachers College and both his specialist and doctoral degrees from Argosy University - Atlanta. William has one son, William III. His dedication and contributions to education continue to inspire and influence those around him.
Louis E. Lord Jr.
Louis E. Lord Jr. is a husband, father, son, uncle, community advocate, and dedicated servant leader. A native of Queens, New York, Louis witnessed firsthand the challenges facing communities during the 1990s. Determined to forge a different path, he attended Morehouse College, an experience that helped shape his lifelong commitment to education, service, and community empowerment.
Following his time at Morehouse, Louis embarked on a pivotal journey working within Atlanta Public Schools, where his passion for making a meaningful difference in the lives of young people flourished. Although his professional journey later led him to corporate America, Louis remained steadfast in his dedication to serving families and communities.
Today, Louis serves as the Community Outreach Coordinator for Douglas County, Georgia, where he works to strengthen connections between local government, residents, organizations, and community partners. His role reflects his longstanding commitment to building relationships, expanding community engagement, and connecting individuals and families with opportunities and resources that strengthen their communities.
Louis also recognizes the transformative power of education and the critical role parents play in their children’s academic success. This belief led him to become involved with the Parent Engagement Organization, which is dedicated to strengthening parent engagement in schools and communities across the nation. Through this work, Louis has become a strong advocate for parental involvement and its potential to positively influence student achievement and educational outcomes.
He currently serves on the Michaels-Dickson Scholars Program Advisory Group, further extending his commitment to supporting young people and educational opportunity.
Across his professional, civic, and community endeavors, Louis strives to add value wherever he serves. His work reflects an unwavering commitment to uplifting people, strengthening families, and empowering communities.
Louis is blessed to be married to his wife, Nadra, and together they are the proud and active parents of their son, Ellison.
